Zen koans are a creative and subtle way to take away any confusion and conflict in the mind and open new possibilities for action. Taking up koan work as a Zen practice is not only a powerful and beautiful gateway into our true selves; it’s a journey to embodying the implications of our new insights.
Koan work is subtle, which can make it hard to navigate; it’s also done person to person with a Roshi who has been through the full journey themselves, which can add another level of complexity, as intimacy is difficult for many people.
So, in this workshop we are going to review, explore, and learn the practice of koan work. It will be helpful for those who are interested in exploring koans and also helpful for those who wish to fine tune and deepen their koan practice.
This workshop is led by Guy Gaudry, Roshi. After successfully training in Zen in a classical manner for 20 years, he went on to study koans in a more expansive and integrative way, and received Dharma Transmission* from John Tarrant Roshi.
